Consumer Markets Sales Consultant (Job Number:10885)

Summary:
This position supports sales activity and participates in the growth of new enrollment for the consumer markets segment. This position develops and maintains relationships via face to face interaction, telephone, community meetings, and other field based activities in order to promote and maximize the sales of all Blue Cross and ancillary line consumer markets segment products.
Accountabilities:
1. Meets sales and sales development goals as assigned by management.
2. Develop field sales skills and competencies by working with and supporting senior sales consultants with their field activities.
3. Delivers presentations to groups/individuals to support, educate or enroll into appropriate BCBSMN plans.
4. Welcomes walk in customers and provides consultative sales and service experience for customers seeking health and ancillary insurance products and information.
5. Maximizes the sale of company products through determining suitability, eligibility and need; explains benefits for appropriate coverage, responds to questions, supplies relevant marketing material and assists with the application process.
6. As available, responsible for answering and following up on incoming sales calls and emails from prospective customers generated by marketing campaigns.
7. Uses lead tracking software to manage prospective enrollee database. Initiates sales calls to individuals who have responded to advertising and direct mail campaigns.
8. Identify contacts/partnerships for community events and targeted community outreach.
9. Remains compliant with all Federal, State, and CMS regulations and laws. Additionally comply with all BCBSMN compliance guidance.
10. Meets individually with prospective enrollee’s upon request.
11. Remains knowledgeable of competitor health plans available in our market to be able to effectively position BCBSMN individual consumer products.
12. Analyzes benefit trends, the effectiveness of marketing materials and advertising campaigns, as well as make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the department
13. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external business customer to contribute to the attainment of sales goals
14. Participates in developing annual sales plan in order to positively impact sale strategy as it relates to a strong community sales presence

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, business, marketing or healthcare and 2 years of marketing/sales/retail sales experience, or 6 years of marketing/sales/retail sales experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must be creative, innovative and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self starter with the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through on sales process steps.
- Proven oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Sales acumen.
- Positive attitude with the desire to embrace and promote teamwork.
- Possess or ability to acquire State licensure to sell health and life insurance products.
- Ability to work evenings and Saturdays on a scheduled basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual language skills including Spanish, Hmong, and Somalian.
- Sales experience.
- Thorough understanding of the health care industry.
