Legislative Affairs Coordinator (Job Number:11259)

Summary:
This position is responsible for tracking legislation, creating public policy development materials, and assuring that statutory, regulatory and other public affairs activities are communicated and monitored.
Accountabilities:
- Track legislative bills throughout session, attend legislative hearings, serve as information source for legislators, and report on outcomes to the corporation.
- Interface with legislators, regulators, or their staff to resolve constituent issues.
- Coordinate the activities of the Blue Cross Public Policy Council to facilitate development of corporate public policy positions and strategies.
- Implement Blue Cross’ corporate grass roots program, including get-out-the-vote activities, employee and customer calls-to-action, and work with Corporate Communications staff to develop and implement public affairs education and communications vehicles.
- Coordinate all activities of the corporate political citizenship committee (PCC), including fundraising, funds distribution, and compliance with legal and regulatory ethical practice guidelines and reporting requirements.
- Assist in the development of department publications (yearly legislative session summary, Blue Cross Views, and Public Policy News).

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and 3 years of experience in public affairs or related field, or 7 years of experience in public affairs or related field in lieu of a degree.
